Broadway Rave
You know it's going to be a great night when you arrive at the venue, and it's packed shoulder to shoulder before the show has even started. Welcome to Broadway Rave!
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Broadway Rave is a DJ music party featuring some of your favorite Broadway musical hits. At Broadway Rave, costumes are not only welcomed but highly encouraged! You will often find people dressed as their favorite Broadway character, ranging from simple outfits and color themes to full-on costumes and makeup.

The Start of the Party
Was there even a start to this Broadway Rave? It is typical to have a slow start to any music event, with the crowd building throughout the night, right around 10-11 pm, where the crowd is at it's peak. Not on June 12th! As I was getting my gear ready to photograph the show, 30 minutes prior to the start time, the venue was already packed, shoulder to shoulder! The crowd was eagerly waiting for the DJ to come out to start the show.

Finally, the time everyone has been waiting for. The lights dimmed as a countdown timer appeared on the projector screen. Almost instantly, the conversations stopped as the room shifted its attention toward the stage. Cheers grew louder as the timer reached zero. The room erupted with applause and singing as the first Broadway number blasted through the speakers. Instantly, the dance floor transformed into a crowd of colorful costumes, raised hands, and voices screaming every lyric.

The Whole Experience
The costumes are what truly create Broadway Rave's immersive experience. Broadway Rave is built around the idea of giving everyone their 10 minutes of fame. Broadway Rave invites attendees onstage to sing along, perform their favorite musical numbers, and embrace their inner Broadway star. As soon as someone hears "their song," you see them running
towards the stage, ready to pour their hearts out, and we are all here for it!

Final thoughts
As the final songs played and the lights came up, many fans lingered around the stage, taking photos with new friends they had made throughout the night. It was another reminder that Broadway Rave is more than a concert—it's a community brought together by a shared love of musical theater.
Broadway Rave continues to be one of my favorite shows to photograph. Although I wouldn't consider the music one of my favorite genres, I do know many of the songs, and most importantly, Broadway Rave always draws the best crowds with limitless enthusiasm, making for a good time and fantastic photos. I have never been to a Broadway Rave that was not an absolute experience.
If Broadway music is your thing or you're just curious, I highly recommend you check out one of their upcoming shows. Broadway Rave regularly frequents the Orange County and Los Angeles area; however, they host events around the country. Check out their upcoming shows here:
